But Manish was more focused on the clothes of the artists. He could not take a degree in designing. In the 1980s, people used to make fun of him for fashion designing, because at that time there were no fashion designing courses for men. At the beginning of his career, he worked at Equinox Boutique in Mumbai for just Rs 500 a month. Here he got the job of showing clothes to customers and folding them. In his free time, Manish used to secretly make design sketches. In the early years of Bollywood, producers would reject his designs as too glamorous. On the set they were told that you are going to stitch the clothes, give them to them and move on. When Michael Jackson came to India in 1996, Manish designed his jacket. They have also launched their collections in skin care and jewellery. He has received many awards including IIFA, Filmfare. He is also associated with a social organization for the welfare of women workers of chikankari. His net worth is said to be around Rs 2500 crore.
