South superstar Jr NTR’s new film will be a mytho drama. It hasn’t even gone on floors yet, but a poster and its tagline have made it a topic of debate across the country. The alleged depiction of Lord Murugan and the ‘born in the North’ claim made in the poster have drawn sharp reactions in Tamil Nadu. ‘Naam Tamilar Katchi’ chief Seeman has demanded a ban on the film in the state and warned the makers of dire consequences. The debate for and against the film has also intensified on social media, while the makers have not yet given any official response to the controversy. This new mega project was announced on June 29. The poster depicts a trident and a spear in the shape of DNA and the caption reads that this is the story of a deity who was born in the North, took shape in the middle of the country and is worshiped in the South. A section of Tamil society says that Lord Murugan is at the center of Tamil culture and identity, hence calling him ‘born in North India’ is a distortion of cultural and historical facts. Although the story and title of the film have not been officially revealed yet, it is believed that it could be a film inspired by Lord Karthikeya (Murugan). Demand to ban the content of the film also: The controversy over the film increased further when Seeman issued a long statement on social media on Sunday. He alleged that efforts were being made to distort Tamil history and religious traditions. He warned against showing fabricated stories about Lord Murugan in the name of art. Seeman also appealed to the Tamil Nadu government to ban the Tamil and Telugu versions of the film if the controversial aspects were not changed. ‘Dragon’: Based on the international drug network, Junior NTR will also be seen in director Prashant Neel’s film ‘Dragon’. This film will be released on 11 June 2027. Set in 1967, this period action drama will tell the story of international opium smuggling, the Golden Triangle and the bloody power struggle of the underworld. According to director Prashant, this is the most realistic film of his career so far.
