Credibility has always been a big criterion for sports drama in Bollywood and to live up to this criterion, Pulkit Samrat has completely adapted himself in his upcoming Netflix series ‘Glory’. In this recently released series, he is seen in the role of a professional boxer. During the trailer launch, he surprised everyone by entering the live ring with professional boxer Neeraj Goyat. The journey from becoming an actor to a fighter was quite challenging. According to Pulkit’s trainer Drew Neel, his aim was not only to teach him boxing, but to transform him into a real boxer. Drew described the process as an inspiring journey that taught Pulkit to not only look good in the ring, but also think and feel like a fighter. According to Drew, he started training about 9 months before the shooting, which is considered a very short time. In preparation, focus was on functional strength, not just fitness. The biggest change in Pulkit’s fitness approach while preparing to become a boxer. While actors usually work on muscle to look good on screen, Drew focused on making his body functional. Pulkit was already fit and ripped, but his weight was balanced to make him stronger in the ring so that he could last longer and perform effectively during the bout. Thousands of real punches were thrown, complete training was also a real test of the body, the most difficult part of the training was stamina and repetition. According to Drew, Pulkit had to throw thousands of jabs and crosses every day, which put tremendous pressure on his shoulders. This was a new experience for him, because he had not done such continuous punching training before. To keep his body active for a long time and perform at the same intensity, he had to go through rigorous marathon sessions. Pulkit’s journey was witnessed by his wife and Kriti Kharbanda, who appreciated his hard work and also shared an emotional note.
