Many big Bollywood celebs including Sonu Sood, Anurag Kashyap, Aayush Sharma, Huma Qureshi and Bhumi Pednekar have criticized the police lathi charge on students during the ‘Cockroach Janata Party’ (CJP) Parliament march at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar.
Bollywood actor and Salman Khan’s brother-in-law Ayush Sharma, while reacting to the protest taken out from Jantar Mantar to Parliament, said that the real identity of a healthy democracy is not just the vote, but the voice of every citizen. According to him, be it students or any citizen of the country, when they express their views, they should be heard and not suppressed.
Ayush Sharma has worked in the films ‘Loveyatri’ and ‘Antim’. He was married to Salman Khan’s younger sister Arpita Khan in 2014.
Ayush Sharma said that the government has finally heard the voice of the students, which is a positive sign for the democratic system. However, he also expressed grief over the fact that many students faced tear gas and lathi charge during the protest. He said that the youth had to go through such circumstances to convey their demands to the government, which is worrying.

Anurag raised questions on police action

To wear the uniform one has to sacrifice one’s soul, intimacy, everything. Didn’t know. Is there any policeman in this country who can stand up and say, ‘I will not follow this order because it is wrong?’

Huma Qureshi called lathicharge tragic
Huma Qureshi wrote on her Instagram,
Today’s pictures will remain in my mind for a long time. I was deeply saddened to see such brutality and use of sticks against peaceful protesters. This definitely could have been handled with more patience, listening to people and talking.

We, the people of India, have elected this government and today we all need to ask questions and expect accountability. We are a very large and diverse country. We may not necessarily agree on every issue, but we can certainly agree that every citizen should be heard with respect before using force.

Bhumi said that the country has a duty towards its youth to ensure that the movement does not turn violent and does not deviate from its objective. He also said that democracies are built only through dialogue.
Bhumi also demanded reforms in the education system and raised issues like paper leaks, failure in exams, lack of equal opportunities, shortage of teachers and pressure on students, which need to be addressed.

YouTuber Elvish Yadav also protested against the violence and wrote on his X account,
I am neither a supporter of BJP nor of Congress, but what is happening with the students is completely wrong. There should not have been violence against the students who came forward with their legitimate problems. Their views should be heard and appropriate action should be taken.

There was a clash between the protesters and the police
Cockroach Janata Party took out a march from Jantar Mantar to Parliament on Monday. There were several clashes between the protesters and the police during the protest which lasted from 8 am to 5 pm.
In the demonstration that started at 8 am, at 10 am the protesters broke the barricade and marched towards the Parliament. The agitators reached near the Parliament from Jantar Mantar via Sansad Marg, Janpath Square, War Memorial, Dutva Path, Vijay Chowk.
Tried to enter the Parliament, after which the security of the Parliament was increased and the main gate was closed. Police released tear gas shells. Pictures of stone pelting also surfaced late in the evening. More than 50 policemen and an equal number of protesters were injured.
