Actor Anupam Kher is being trolled on social media after calling the theft of offerings in Ayodhya’s Ram temple a small incident. Now he has responded to this controversy by releasing a video. Anupam Kher has said that he stands by his statement and will not change his stand due to the noise of any troll, social media influencer or leader. He alleged that some people are distorting the truth because it does not fit their agenda. While sharing the video on Instagram and X, Anupam Kher said that people are most afraid of the truth when it does not match their agenda. A few days ago, he had expressed his views with complete honesty and responsibility regarding the theft in Ram temple. The actor made it clear that he still stands by his every word. He said that some people need controversy and noise more than the truth, hence this entire matter was presented in a twisted manner. Targeting the agenda-driven ecosystem, in the video the actor said that a few days ago he had gone to Ayodhya and expressed his feelings, which some people did not like. He said that such people wanted to push a particular narrative, so they decided that Anupam Kher had said something wrong. After this an entire ecosystem came together to target, troll and abuse him. Anupam said that he has moved forward on his own strength and is not afraid of anything. Anupam Kher is surrounded by defending the theft. Earlier, in an interview given to India Today, Anupam Kher described the irregularities of Rs 2 to 7 crores in the Ram temple as a minor thing. He linked it directly to the Mughals and said that this theft is a very small thing in comparison to the atrocities that the Mughals looted the country. After the video of this statement went viral on X (first Twitter), people are criticizing him fiercely. During the interview, Anupam Kher defended the theft in the temple by comparing the theft of Ram temple with the loot of Mughals. He said that people are making a big deal out of it and saying that there has been looting in the temple. The actor argued that looting took place when the Mughals destroyed our temples. He further said that the looting took place when the Mughal kings killed Brahmins and collected their sacred thread and weighed them. According to Anupam Kher, temple rapes against women in history were huge problems. If the country can overcome those big problems, then this theft is a very small thing. Anupam Kher, who is working on the film being made on Ram Temple, is also busy these days with his upcoming films. He will soon be seen in the film ‘Khosla Ka Ghosla 2’. Apart from this, he is also working in a film on the history and construction of Ayodhya temple. However, amidst the discussion of his upcoming films, he remains in the news due to his controversial statement and the social media posts made thereafter. 8 people have been arrested in the theft case. The case of theft in Ram temple first came to light on 7 June 2026. On this, the Uttar Pradesh government had formed a SIT team to investigate. After this, an FIR was registered in the case on June 25 and eight people were arrested in this case.
