A fatwa has been issued in UP regarding the third marriage of film actor Aamir Khan. The fatwa was issued by UP’s Royal Chief Mufti Maulana Chaudhary Efrahim Hussain in Aligarh at around 1 pm on Tuesday.

Mufti said- According to Shariat (laws of Islam), it is completely wrong and illegitimate for any Muslim man to marry a non-Muslim woman who adheres to her old religion. One who has not accepted Muslim religion. Marriage with such a woman is illegal according to the rules of Islam. A Muslim man who does this is also religiously guilty.

Karni Sena had accused Aamir of love jihad
Earlier on Tuesday itself, National Vice President of Kshatriya Karni Sena Thakur Gyanendra Singh had said – At the age of 61, the common man wants to retire and live a comfortable life with his family. At that age, Aamir Khan married a Hindu woman for the third time. They are promoting love jihad every time by marrying Hindu women. Muslim youth are being instigated for this.
Thakur Gyanendra Singh had written a letter to the royal Chief Mufti asking whether this marriage was right according to Islam? If this is wrong, then why doesn’t Aamir Khan get the punishment that is prescribed for common Muslims? Warned that the protest will continue until Aamir Khan is punished according to law and religion.

Shahi Chief Mufti Maulana Chaudhary Ifrahim Hussain issued a fatwa while responding to Karni Sena’s letter on Aamir Khan’s marriage.
Marriage without changing religion is wrong: There is a clear order in the Quran that until a non-Muslim woman comes to faith (i.e. accepts the Muslim religion), do not marry her. If a Muslim man knowingly marries a non-Muslim woman, that marriage will be religiously invalid.
Nikah is valid only upon acceptance of Quran and Prophet: The real meaning of a non-Muslim woman’s faith is that she should believe in Allah only. Accept Hazrat Mohammad as the last prophet (messenger). Apart from this he will have to have faith in the Quran and the holy books of God. Life will have to be lived according to the rules and methods of Islam.
Cheating on one’s first wife is a sin: Deceiving one’s first wife and marrying a second one is a serious sin. According to the Quran, if a man cannot treat his wives equally. If he cannot manage their expenses or rights, he is not allowed to marry more than once.
Prophet Mohammad had said that the person who cheats is not one of us. Therefore, being unfair to the first wife is a big crime. According to Islamic law, there is a difference between the two. Marriage with a Christian or Jewish woman has been considered legitimate by fulfilling certain necessary conditions. It is completely wrong to marry another non-Muslim woman without converting.
This is not a final verdict against any one person: Mufti said that the religious opinion (fatwa) given is information about a general rule. This is not our final legal or court decision on the personal life of Aamir Khan or any specific person. Karni Sena had asked us questions on the basis of the letter, so we have only given information about the general rules of Islam.
Mufti clarified what is the ground reality of Aamir Khan’s third marriage? Whether the woman had accepted Islam before marriage or not is a matter of investigation. The decision to directly convict or punish any person can be taken only after looking at all the evidence and the actual situation of the marriage.

61-year-old Aamir Khan had a registered marriage with Gauri Spratt on July 5. Only a few close guests attended the wedding. The couple took vows after signing the marriage papers. During this time, Aamir had given a precious ring to Gauri.

Aamir did his first marriage to Reena Dutta in the year 1986. It was a love marriage which lasted for about 16 years. They both have two children, Junaid Khan and Ira Khan. The couple legally separated in 2002.

Second relationship with Kiran Rao, then separated with consent
After his divorce from Reena Dutta, director Kiran Rao came into Aamir Khan’s life. Both of them got married in the year 2005. From this marriage he has a son, Azad, who was born through IVF. After 15 years of marriage, Aamir and Kiran announced divorce in July 2021.
