- Used to disguise himself as a bulldozer operator: Accused Prabhu Bhai Solanki used to search for victims by disguising himself as a bulldozer operator wearing simple clothes, with dirty hands and feet. He used to target those people on the highway who stopped to change tires or get punctured. He would tell his victim that he was digging near the railway track, during which he had found gold coins.
- Earning trust by giving real gold coins: He would tell his victim that I am poor and if I go to sell gold, the police will catch me. He used to keep 5-6 real gold and silver coins with him. To give confidence to his target he would say to them, “I have found these while digging the land. You are an educated rich man, get them checked by a jeweler and let me know.”
- The temptation to sell cheap gold in large quantities: After this, people would fall into his trap and take the coins to the shop to get them checked. The coins there turned out to be genuine, due to which people had complete confidence in them. After this he would say that I have a lot of gold, I will give it only at the rate of Rs 25 to 30 lakh per kg. You will become a millionaire. Due to greed, the victim used to come away with a huge amount of money.
- Fraud by coating brass coins with gold solution: After taking the money and real gold, he would give fake coins (gilded brass) and immediately disappear from there. Used to keep some coins. But, if some double-checking was done, it would have come to light that the entire deal was a fraud. After this he would lose his senses.
All four accused including mastermind Prabhu Bhai Solanki are in the custody of Gurugram Police.

- On April 1, a Gurugram exporter complained: DCP Crime Hitesh Yadav said that on April 1, 2026, exporter Vivek, resident of Gurugram, had complained at Sushant Lok police station. Told that on February 13, the swindler gave him cheap gold coins. On checking they turned out to be genuine. By building trust again, on March 2, the accused took Rs 2.49 crore in cash and 50 tola gold from her house and gave her fake coins in return.
- The police laid a trap and went after the accused: DCP said that after receiving the complaint, the investigation of the case was handed over to Crime Branch-43. Took help of mobile number, CCTV footage etc. found with exporter Vivek. Since the language of the accused was Gujarati, they contacted the police there by sending photos etc. It was found that seven cases of such fraud were registered in Gujarat. After this the police formed a team to arrest the accused.
- Two arrested from Gurugram, two from Gujarat: DCP said that mastermind Solanki Prabhubhai alias Kalpesh alias Ravi and one of his associates Pankaj Sharma were arrested from Gurugram. Accused Manish Kamlesh Shah and Ishwar Marwari were arrested from Gujarat. More than Rs 2.30 crore cash and about 678 grams of gold have been recovered from its possession. Full recovery of the defrauded amount and gold has been made from the Gurugram businessman.
- All four were taken on remand to investigate the horoscope: Crime Branch Sector 43 in-charge Narendra Sharma said that the police have taken Prabhubhai, Pankaj Sharma, Manish Kamlesh Shah and Ishwar Marwari on remand.
