Shreyas Talpade and Kajal Aggarwal starrer ‘The India Story: Slow Poison in Progress’ is going to be released in theaters on July 24. This film of director Chetan DK and writer-producer Sagar Shinde will present serious issues like adulterated food, pesticides and increasing risk of cancer with suspense, drama and crime. The director claims that the audience will see the original crowd and real locations in the film, as his aim was to bring the story to the screen with maximum realism. Director Chetan DK says that the inspiration for the story came from the news of the death of a girl, ‘I initially wanted to make a film on an Indian revolutionary, but during this time, the six-seven year old daughter of Sagar Shinde’s close friend died due to pesticide-related cancer. This incident shocked the entire team. During the research, we also came to know about a ‘Cancer Train’. The research done for the film took about two and a half to three years. During the research, it was revealed that a train in Bathinda, Punjab is known as ‘Cancer Train’ because people there became victims of cancer due to the effects of pollution and chemicals. Our film revolves around such serious issues. A special set was built in Naigaon for the Bombay High Court scenes. The film was shot in Kolhapur, Pune, Mumbai, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Bihar, Gujarat, Kolkata, Hyderabad and other places. Chetan DK says, ‘I shot most of the scenes at real locations and used chroma only in a few scenes. Overall, the shooting of the film was completed in 60 to 65 days, while the entire shooting schedule lasted for approximately eight to nine months. For the Bombay High Court scenes, a special set was built in Naigaon, where the courtroom sequences were shot for 12 days. This is a pan India film, that’s why we have kept the title ‘The Indian Story’. Its tagline is ‘Slow Poison in Progress’. Not computer generated, the entire shooting was done with the real crowd. According to the director, there are a total of 80 characters in the film, including big and small. Some crowd scenes have been shot with 2-3 thousand people. A total of 8 to 10 thousand actual crowd was hired. Crowd has been shown from court, train scenes to Punjab, Himachal, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Gujarat, Kerala etc. It took 10-12 days to shoot the climax. It was shot in Kolhapur. According to director Chetan, the research was done from Madhya Pradesh to South… ‘Cases from many places from Madhya Pradesh to Kasaragod village in Kerala and Tamil Nadu were studied. In some areas, due to chemical spraying over the years, there has been an increase in cases of children becoming handicapped since birth and cancer cases. When we came to know that such products are being sold in the market which contain negligible amount of real milk, then we felt that this topic is not just a film but a social warning. Shreyas will be seen in the role of a soldier, Kajal will be a lawyer. The story of the film is about a soldier whose daughter dies due to cancer related to pesticides. After this he fights a legal battle against the farmer, companies and the system. Shreyas plays a soldier in it, while Kajal Aggarwal plays the role of a lawyer who supports him in the court. Murali Sharma has become an honest officer and Manish Wadhwa has become the opposition lawyer.
