The Bombay High Court has asked Ketan Kakkar, a neighbor of Bollywood actor Salman Khan’s Panvel farmhouse, to remove derogatory posts and videos against the actor from social media. Justice Sharmila Deshmukh’s bench, while hearing the case on Thursday, said that having access to social media does not mean that anyone can defame any common citizen or celebrity.
The court has sought a reply from Ketan Kakkar on this suggestion by July 6. This dispute is pending in the court since 2022.

Misuse of social media is not right The High Court made it clear during the hearing that if someone has the facility to use a social media platform, then he cannot use it to tarnish the image of others. Justice Deshmukh orally said that people can go to the right legal forum to resolve disputes related to land or property, but posting such videos on social media is not right.
The court also expressed displeasure over the videos which are being continuously shared by third parties other than Ketan Kakkar. The court said that steps can be taken to remove them also.
Salman is often seen spending time in that farmhouse.
What is the whole controversy and Salman’s allegations? This dispute is related to Salman Khan’s farmhouse located in Panvel of Raigarh district. Ketan Kakkar’s plot is near Salman’s farmhouse. Salman Khan had filed a defamation case against Ketan Kakkar in the year 2022. Salman alleges that Ketan Kakkar had uploaded extremely objectionable, derogatory and communally inciting videos against him on social media.
According to Salman Khan, Ketan Kakkar had tried to make a land deal near his farmhouse, which was canceled by the administration as it was illegal. Since then they have been posting videos against him.
This farmhouse of Salman is spread over about 150 acres.
Neighbor Ketan Kakkar’s argument in court On the other hand, neighbor Ketan Kakkar has denied Salman Khan’s allegations in the court. Ketan Kakkar says that whatever posts or videos he has shared are based on the truth related to Salman Khan’s property and do not constitute any defamation. Ketan alleged that Salman Khan is pressurizing him through this defamation case to give up his fight for the Panvel land. Ketan Kakkar has demanded the High Court to reject this appeal of Salman Khan.

The case has been going on in court for four years Salman Khan had earlier sought an interim restraining order against Ketan Kakkar in a lower court (civil court). After not getting relief from the civil court, the actor had approached the Bombay High Court in 2022. In November 2022, the then High Court Justice CV Bhadang had completed the hearing of this case, but a day before his retirement, he clarified that he had not been able to prepare the final decision.
After this, he had given instructions to keep the case in ‘part-heard’ category and send it to another bench, after which now the new bench is hearing it.
