A report regarding Ranveer Singh and director Farhan Akhtar’s film ‘Don 3’ has claimed that Ranveer wanted violence and abuse in this film. There was a dispute between the two due to Farhan not agreeing to this.
This project, which started about 3 years ago, is now stuck in limbo as Ranveer Singh has reportedly left the film. According to media reports, Farhan Akhtar has suffered a loss of around Rs 40 crore due to Ranveer leaving the film.
Trouble over abuse and violence According to a report in ‘Free Press Journal’, Ranveer Singh wanted the character of ‘Don’ to be more violent and dark as per today’s times. Ranveer believed that the audience was liking the bloodshed and ‘strong language’ (abuse) on screen. He wanted abuses to be used in Don’s dialogues, but Farhan Akhtar was strongly against it.

Farhan said- ‘Don’ does not abuse Farhan Akhtar tried to explain to Ranveer that the ‘Don’ franchise has its own dignity. Amitabh Bachchan and Shahrukh Khan never presented this character through abuses or meaningless killings.
Farhan was not ready to compromise with his original thinking. His argument was that ‘Don’ was a stylish and vicious criminal and not a streetwise goon. There was a heated argument between the two regarding this matter and ultimately Ranveer withdrew from the film.
Why did the controversy start? The rift between Ranveer and Farhan started in December 2025. After the release of the film ‘Dhurandhar’, Ranveer Singh suddenly walked out from ‘Don 3’. Farhan and his partner Ritesh Sidhwani took the matter to the ‘Producers Guild of India’.
It was told in the meeting that Rs 40 crore had already been spent on the pre-production of the film and Ranveer had approved the script at every stage.

Production house asked for compensation of Rs 40 crore After Ranveer left the film, Farhan’s company ‘Excel Entertainment’ has demanded a heavy fine from him. The production house says that they have suffered huge losses due to changes in the pre-production and shooting schedule of the film, hence Ranveer should be given a compensation of Rs 40 crore. However, according to the latest update, Ranveer Singh has agreed to return his signing amount of Rs 10 crore.
