Famous actress Indira Krishnan recently shared her casting couch experience in the early days of her career. In an interview to Tele Masala, when Indira Krishnan was asked whether things like casting couch were true in the industry, she said, ‘It has happened to me myself. I don’t want to take the names of those makers because they are big names in the South Industry. He told me that if we are giving you such a big role, you will have to be comfortable. She further said, ‘I understood the meaning of comfortable. I told him, when I am selling my talent, why should I sell myself? I am a talented actress. Indira claimed that only because of this she was dropped from many big films. However, he refused to take the name of any producer and said that all of them are big names of the South Industry. The actress said that after this incident a kind of fear had settled in her mind. For this reason, he maintained distance from working in South films for a long time, even though he was continuously getting offers. She said that every time she got an offer, she would refuse it because she did not want to face such a situation again. Later, at the request of producer Prerna Arora, she worked in the Telugu film ‘Jatadhara’. Indira told that Prerna Arora had assured her that it was a good film, after which she had decided to work in the South again. Such an experience never happened in the Hindi film industry. Indira Krishnan clearly said that she experienced a situation like casting couch only in the South film industry. This never happened to him in the Hindi film industry. She told that even before films like ‘Tere Naam’, she had met many producers, but if she did not get a film, it was only because she was not right for that character, and not because of any kind of compromise. He said that no producer or casting director in Mumbai ever approached him inappropriately. According to him, he always found the environment of Mumbai more professional. However, she also said that now the South Industry has become much more professional than before and she is narrating something that is many years old. What did you say about the TV industry? On the question of casting couch in the TV industry, Indira Krishnan said that she has neither seen nor experienced such a case till date. Expressing concern about new artists, Indira Krishnan said that such incidents rarely happen with established artists in Mumbai, but new artists coming from small towns with big dreams often fall into the trap of such people. He said that some people try to take advantage of girls coming from Bhopal, Lucknow and other cities by showing them the dream of getting them work in films. He also said that he had neither a godfather nor a mentor in his career. He has made a name for himself in the industry on the basis of his own strength and talent.
