Bollywood actor Varun Dhawan revealed the truth about the scary era of Bollywood in the 1990s when his family faced threatening phone calls from the underworld.
According to the report of Hindustan Times, Varun told in a recent conversation that at that time many big stars used to receive threats and blackmail calls from the underworld. His father David Dhawan and family also faced similar intimidating calls.
Varun said that at that time his family was continuously receiving calls from the underworld, but initially he did not know for what purpose the calls were made. Actually, some of the staff of the house had argued with the person calling and he also accidentally told the complete address on the phone, which mentioned his house and office place.
He further told that the caller had said that he would come to the garden to kill and also knew the address. As soon as the matter escalated, someone immediately called David Dhawan and told him that the matter was getting out of hand and the suspicious person had also threatened violence in real life.
After this incident, the family had to move away from their home that day because the situation was serious and scary. Varun described this incident as funny but scary, because at that time underworld pressure and threats were a common problem on many veteran Bollywood actors.
Varun’s statement has revealed a worrying picture of the film industry at that time, when actors, directors and producers faced such danger on a daily basis.
Talking about the work front, Varun was recently seen in the box office hit film ‘Border 2’. His next film ‘Hai Jawaani Toh Ishq Hona Hai’ is going to be released soon. This is a romantic comedy film, in which Varun Dhawan will be seen with Pooja Hegde and Mrunal Thakur. David Dhawan is directing this film.
