Tamil actor Thalapathy Vijay’s wife Sangeetha Soranalingam has filed a divorce petition in the Chengalpattu district court. Sangeeta has made serious allegations against Vijay of extra marital affair and mental harassment. The court has fixed April 20 for the next hearing of this case. Sangeeta had started legal proceedings in the beginning of the year 2026 itself. They have sought legal annulment of the marriage under the Special Marriage Act, 1954. According to the documents filed in the court, both of them got married on 25 August 1999 in Chennai. Sangeeta said – The affair came to light in 2021. In the petition submitted in the court, Sangeeta has accused Vijay of ‘adultery’. Sangeeta claims that in April 2021, she came to know that Vijay was allegedly having an affair with an actress. It is alleged that Vijay continued to meet the actress in public and go on foreign tours. According to Sangeeta, because of this she and her children have had to suffer a lot of mental pain and embarrassment. Sangeeta asked for permission to stay in the house. Along with the divorce petition, Sangeeta has also sought an interim relief from the court. He has sought permission to stay in his house located on Casuarina Drive, Chennai. Sangeeta told the court that she is a British citizen and has no other home to live in India. He has demanded that he should be given security to stay in this house till the case continues. Vijay and Sangeeta have two children – 25-year-old son Jason Sanjay and 20-year-old daughter Divya Sasha. Vijay entered active politics in the year 2024 by forming his political party ‘Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam’ (TVK). Sangeeta alleges that between Vijay’s public engagements and acting career, their mutual trust decreased, which has now taken the form of divorce. Notice issued to Vijay: Chengalpattu Court has issued a notice to actor Vijay asking him to appear to present his side in the case. Now all eyes are on the hearing to be held on April 20. At present, no official statement has come from Vijay or his PR team on these serious allegations.
