According to the information, this matter is related to a complaint many years old. Complainant advocate Dilip Kumar had alleged that voter identity cards were registered in different states in the name of Prakash Raj. The complaint said that the actor was suspected to have voter ID in Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.

After the complaint, the matter reached the police and Election Commission. The complainant claimed that the court was approached when the expected action was not taken. After this, the hearing proceeded under the supervision of the court.

According to news agency ANI, the 48th Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (ACMM/ACJM) court of Bengaluru had earlier issued summons to Prakash Raj to appear. However, he did not appear in the court on the scheduled dates. Taking this seriously, the court issued a non-bailable warrant against him.

According to electoral rules in India, any citizen can be registered as a voter at only one place. Having multiple voter registrations or more than one active voter ID card in one person’s name may be considered against the rules. However, the final position is decided only after investigation and legal process.
