On Tuesday evening, an audience who had come to watch the Punjabi film Dastar created a ruckus at the multiplex located in Trillium Mall, Amritsar. He accused the multiplex staff and manager of not allowing him to watch the movie with the children. Whereas, there is no adult scene in the film. The person also said that films like Dhurandhar and Animal were shown everywhere. Also shown on mobile phones and TV. When it came to films promoting Sikh culture, only Sikh children were not allowed to watch the films. The person argued with the multiplex staff for a long time regarding this. The person also sought support from the Sikh spectators and staff present there. However, everyone explained the rules to him. After this the person returned without watching the film. The person has also shared a video of this on social media. In this regard, the staff of the multiplex says that the film has been given ‘A’ certificate by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). According to the rules, he cannot allow people under 18 years of age to watch the film. Therefore, that person was stopped. Jeweler had come with 4 children to watch the movie. According to the information, Varinder Singh, resident of Majitha Road, Amritsar, had gone to Trillion Mall on Tuesday night to watch the movie Dastar. His wife and 4 children were also with him. Jeweler by profession and social media influencer Varinder Singh’s four children are minors. According to Varinder, when he asked for tickets for the film Dastar, the staff refused to give him the ticket after seeing the children. They started saying that the film is adult. Children cannot see this. Jeweler’s claim – Makers said that the movie was made according to children. Varinder Singh claims that he has also talked to the makers of the movie and asked them why it has been called adult? So the makers said that the movie was made according to children, but the board has given it an A certificate. Now even they do not have the answer as to why it has been given A certificate. Varinder Singh said- Whenever the history of Sikhs is discussed, it is banned. Whereas, a movie like Dhurandhar, which shows so much violence, can be seen anywhere. Because, the government has its own role in it. I have received messages from many experts. He has told that there is no adult scene in the movie. According to the official statements of the film’s producers (White Hills Studios) and lead actor Tarsem Jassar, the film has received an ‘A’ certificate, which was issued by the Censor Board after making some cuts at the very last moment. Producers told that the censor certificate to release the film in theaters in India was received just a night before the release (on the night of 16th July). Due to Indian censorship rules, the makers had to make several cuts in the original story of the film, only after which it was approved for theatrical release. The board deemed it suitable for adults only (18+) due to the sensitive themes of Sikh history and the racial attacks and conflict against Sikh immigrants in Britain in the 1980s (scenes of violence and police brutality were inspired by true events).
