Love stories have always been made in Bollywood, but in most of the films, the journey of love ends where the hero and heroine unite. Hindi cinema has often avoided the questions of what happens after marriage, how responsibilities change a relationship and when love gets tired. ‘Chand Mera Dil’ tries to capture this difficult part. This film of director Vivek Soni not only shows love as a beautiful feeling, but also brings to the fore the complications, anger, breakdown and efforts to reconnect with it. At many places the film reminds you of the relationships around you. Although its pace slows down in some parts, the emotional grip remains.

Story: From college love to marriage and then the real test of relationship. Set in the backdrop of Hyderabad, the story revolves around engineering students Chandni (Ananya Pandey) and Aarav (Lakshya). Aarav falls in love with Chandni at first sight. Gradually friendship turns into love and both become each other’s world. Amidst a college romance, long bike rides, late night talks and dreams of the future, the two decide to get married. But the real story starts after the marriage. Career pressure, financial responsibilities, family interference and increasing misunderstandings in the relationship start changing both of them. There comes a moment when Aarav’s anger creates such a rift in the relationship, where self-respect becomes a bigger question than love. The relationship reaches the verge of breaking. Will both of them give their relationship a second chance or will love get buried under the burden of responsibilities, this is the basic conflict of the film. Acting: Ananya Pandey surprised, Lakshya showed new colors If anything can be called the biggest strength of this film, then it is its acting. Ananya Pandey has given the most balanced performance of her career so far. He did not leave the character of Chandni as just a romantic girl, but has shown her confusion, pain, insecurity and strength very well. She leaves a great impact in many emotional scenes.

Lakshya is the big surprise of this film. After an action film like ‘Kill’, his very sensitive and broken form is seen here. He has portrayed the restlessness of a boy caught between anger, regret and love very well. At many places his body language and emotional scenes keep you engaged. The chemistry of both the actors turns out to be the strongest part of the film. Paresh Pahuja also makes his presence felt in less screen time. Direction and technical aspects: A film that understands the nuances of relationships Director Vivek Soni has tried to keep the story grounded instead of making it excessively filmy. The good thing is that here anger was not shown as heroism. The film sensitively shows how small mistakes in relationships turn into big distances. The camera work looks good especially in the emotional sequences. The framing and lighting of some scenes make the restlessness of the story more effective. The editing is good in the first half, but in the second half the film starts feeling a little long. Shortcomings of the film: The pace slows down in the second half. The weakest part of the film is its length. The runtime of 2 hours 26 minutes feels heavy at places. Some scenes in the second half seem excessively extended and the story feels a bit repetitive. However, these things do not completely weaken the emotional impact of the film.

Music: The title track of the film is effective. Sachin-Jigar’s music is the life of the film. The songs do not seem to be a burden on the story, rather they work to take it forward. The title track remains memorable for a long time. The background score makes many emotional moments stronger and makes one feel the restlessness of the relationship. Final Verdict: Watch the movie or not? ‘Chand Mera Dil’ is a love story which not only shows the struggle of falling in love but also the struggle to save love. The film isn’t perfect and drags a bit in the second half, but its honest story, strong acting and the authenticity of the relationships make it worth a watch. If you like films that show the brightness of love along with its fatigue, then this film can definitely be watched once.
