Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh seems to be moving towards relief from the Karnataka High Court in the ‘Kantara mimicry controversy’. The court has indicated to settle the case, but has put a condition. The High Court has asked the actor to go to Chamundi Hill Temple and apologize in 4 weeks. Ranveer Singh had filed a petition to cancel the FIR registered against him. The matter came to light when he mimicked a scene from ‘Kantara’ during the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa. It is alleged that during this time he commented on ‘Chavunda Daiva’, which hurt religious sentiments. According to Hindustan Times reports, the FIR was registered on the complaint of a lawyer. After this Ranveer approached the court and apologized. In the hearing, his lawyer said that Ranveer has expressed regret and is ready to go to the temple to pay his respects. However, the petitioner argued that the actor’s apology was not clear and concrete. He said that words like “due course” are vague, so there should be a fixed timeline. On this the court said that it will be written in the order that Ranveer will have to go to the temple within four weeks. In the hearing, Justice M Nagaprasanna said that the actor’s behavior will be commented on, so that in future celebrities do not take such incidents lightly. The court indicated that a warning could be recorded while disposing of the case. The controversy started when Ranveer Singh imitated Rishabh Shetty’s character in ‘Kantara’ and called him ‘ghost’. There was a lot of criticism on social media over this, after which the matter took legal form. Now all eyes are on the final decision of the court, which can end the dispute in the coming days.
