Ram Charan’s film Peddi, which has become a global star after RRR won the Oscars, is releasing on June 4. Janhvi Kapoor is going to be seen with him in the film. Before the release of the film, Dainik Ram Charan told Dainik Bhaskar that this is the first film of his career for which he has worked most sincerely. During the shooting schedule of 200 days, he used to just go home to sleep and reach the set early the next morning. Ram Charan suffered several injuries during the shooting. He calls these gifts, he believes that it is important to do the stunts yourself, because in today’s times, people can see which scene is done by the body double and which is done by the actor. Ram Charan also says that after seeing the success of Salman Khan’s Sultan and Dangal, he got the confidence to make a film on wrestling. Read the special conversation with Ram Charan – Question- Peddi has a wrestling backdrop. What was the special reason for choosing this subject? Ram Charan- I feel that compared to my other films, I have worked most sincerely in this film. The work was done with great respect because it required sincerity. This film represents 1.8 billion people. This film lives for recognition. The character of Peddi is in search of identity, for himself and his community. In a country like India, if you are not on the map, many villages where people live cannot vote, they have no transport, no schools, no postal boxes, no services. They are just living there. There are many such villages. This is the story of a boy who emerges from such a village and creates his identity. Question- Your dedication is visible, are there injuries on your face also? Ram Charan- I have received many gifts (injuries) for this dedication. (Laughs) When I heard this for the first time, I knew. Before this, Salman Khan and Aamir Khan’s films Dangal and Sultan were also released. We were very confident that these kinds of films would work. Thanks to him. As far as wrestling is concerned, this sport resides in the heart of North India (UP, Haryana, Bihar), people worship it. This is a very deeply rooted sport in India. Its tradition is centuries old. It may have started with a different purpose, but now it has become a real heartland game connected to the heart of the country and its villages and towns. Doing such characters is very tiring, physically, you have to be very strong mentally. We shot for 200 days and did whatever had to be done physically. Hands off to my senior actors Salman Khan and Aamir Khan who did it so beautifully. I have also received many gifts (injuries). Question- The action that was there in RRR, the climax scene with real fire, are you not afraid of putting yourself at risk every time? Ram Charan- I think there was a risk factor in dad’s time and in our time also. Now, with the increase in technology, the risk has reduced, but I don’t know what else to do. I enjoy doing this, doing my own stunts. I don’t know anything other than this. I know my audience will love it. Nowadays, by looking at it one can tell which stunt was done by the body double and which one was done by oneself. I like to be as authentic as possible. My director says Ram, don’t do this. My father still fights his own battles at the age of 71. I request them not to do this. But there’s a charm in doing it yourself. People are able to connect. We work only for that connection. Question- No matter how strong we think we are from outside, did it ever happen during the film when we were emotionally broken or in pain? Ram Charan- Let me tell you, for the first time in my life I was so excited for 200 days. This never happened in any film. I used to come home only to sleep. And wanted to get back to the set, this film itself was so inspiring. We used to wake up at 4:45 in the morning. They used to say to get ready by 9 o’clock or 10 o’clock. But I said why not at 7 in the morning. Such enthusiasm was felt in this film. Question- Your father Chiranjeevi has worked with Sridevi, now you and Janhvi are in this film, the chemistry of both is visible. How are you feeling, what would you like to say about Janhvi? Ram Charan- He is a very sincere person. Not only the actress, she is a very sincere person. She comes with a lot of preparation and works very hard. The way she is, her parents’ upbringing is reflected in her. This is reflected in his work also. Working with him is a pleasure. About the film- The film Peddi is releasing in theaters on June 4. This is a pan India film. Directed by Buchi Babu, this film has been given music by AR Rahman. This is Janhvi Kapoor’s second Telugu film. He debuted in Telugu cinema with the film Devara in 2024.
