Nora Fatehi apologized for obscene songs: Told the Women’s Commission – Now I will not do such item songs; There was no intention to spread obscenity

Bollywood actress Nora Fatehi appeared before the National Commission for Women (NCW) on Thursday in the case of spreading obscenity in the song ‘Sarke Chunar’ from the film ‘KD The Devil’. Nora submitted a written apology to the Commission and clarified that her intention was not to hurt anyone’s sentiments. Nora told the Women’s Commission that from now on she will not do such item songs which hurt the honor of women or send a wrong message towards women in the society. Along with this, Nora has also taken the responsibility of bearing the expenses of the education of orphan girls. ‘I was not aware of the Hindi version’ Nora spoke to the media after appearing before Women Commission Chairperson Vijaya Rahatkar in Delhi. She said, “I have apologized in writing. As an artiste, I understand my responsibility. It was not my intention to hurt anyone, but this was a situation I was put in.” Earlier, Nora had claimed that she had only shot for the Kannada version and it was dubbed in Hindi without her consent. Along with apologizing, Nora announced that she will sponsor the education of orphan girls. Nora said, “It is very important to give back to the society. That’s why I have decided that I will bear the expenses of the education of some orphan girls.” Sanjay Dutt has also apologized. Let us tell you that last month, actor Sanjay Dutt had also appeared before NCW regarding this song. He also expressed regret by giving a written apology. As a corrective step, Sanjay Dutt had promised to bear the expenses of education of 50 tribal girls. The Commission had expressed strong objection to the words used in the song and the depiction of women. What is the ‘Sarke Chunar’ controversy? This controversy started after the release of the Hindi version of the song on March 15. A lot of anger was seen on social media regarding the lyrics of the song. People called it an insult to women and extremely obscene. Seeing the growing controversy, the makers removed the song from YouTube. This song was also criticized by many celebs like Ravi Kishan, Kangana Ranaut and singer Armaan Malik. Last month, the Women’s Commission had taken suo motu cognizance of this song on the basis of media reports. The Commission said that the lyrics and choreography of the song are prima facie sexually suggestive and objectionable.
