Actress Khushali Kumar and director-producer Akashaditya Lama had a special conversation with Dainik Bhaskar about the film ‘Dulhaniya Le Aayegi’. Answer/Akashaditya Lama: Society cannot be imagined without marriage. Family is the smallest unit of society and is formed only by marriage. Our film is definitely a comedy, but it talks about relationships, love and father-daughter relationship. Serious matters have been presented in a light-hearted manner. Khushhali Kumar: Marriage should be done when you are ready for it. The government has fixed the minimum age for marriage, but has not set any expiry date. The decision of marriage should be taken only after you find the right partner and you are mentally prepared. The film also says the same thing in a funny manner. Question: How was Khushhali Kumar selected for this film? Answer/Akashaditya Lama: (laughing) People say that Khushali is the owner of a big music company. I am also running a small music company these days, so at present we both are rivals. In such a situation, why would I go to them? But the truth is that I chose her only as an actress. I had seen his film ‘Dhokha: Round the Corner’ and also some parts of ‘Starfish’. She seemed the best fit for the ‘Navya’ of my story. I wanted an actress who did not have a fixed image. Khushhali had not done comedy before, so it felt that there would be new freshness in the film with her. He liked the story and from there our journey began. Question: The film has big actors like Piyush Mishra and Mahesh Manjrekar. How was the experience of working with him? Answer/Akashaditya Lama: Many people had already said that it would not be easy to handle such big artists. But my experience was exactly the opposite. If the artiste is confident that the director knows his work and the producer respects him, then there is no problem. The interesting thing is that Mahesh Manjrekar, Piyush Mishra and Snehil Dixit are also directors themselves. I learned from this film that it is easiest to direct a director. Khushhali Kumar: Piyush ji’s energy is amazing. Be it night or day shooting, he always came to the set with full enthusiasm. Doing emotional father-daughter scenes with Mahesh sir was a special experience for me. He is such a natural actor that it becomes easy to act with him. Question: If a behind-the-scenes video of the shooting of the film is released, which will be the most memorable moment? Answer/Akashaditya Lama: Two scenes are closest to me. First, when Navya wants to tell her father that she does not want to get married, but seeing his feelings he remains silent. Second, Khushhali’s long monologue at the end of the film. He completed it in one go without retakes. At first people were laughing in the trial show, but as soon as this scene came, the atmosphere became emotional. Khushhali Kumar: The most fun on the set was when Sir himself used to explain the scenes by acting. He has a theater background, so he used to act out every scene. Many times it became difficult for us to stop laughing. Question: Nowadays the thinking of youth regarding marriage is changing. Many people want to avoid marriage. How do you see it? Answer/Akashaditya Lama: Due to some incidents, fear has increased in the minds of people, but relationships run on trust. In the era of social media, every incident goes viral instantly. We should not only see what the other person said, but also understand why he said it. Trust and patience are most important in relationships. There is a need to spend more time with family. Khushhali Kumar: I also believe that marriage should happen only when both the people are ready for it. Many times people get married under pressure from family or society and later problems start. Today girls are openly expressing their views. If someone wants to pursue a career first, her decision should be respected. Every person should do what he really wants. Question: Khushhali, people often associate you with T-Series and Gulshan Kumar’s family. Do you feel that now you have developed your own identity? Answer/Khushhali Kumar: I am proud that I am the daughter of Gulshan Kumar ji. I would always like people to remember me by their name also. But when I get work because of hard work, that happiness is different. After ‘Dhokha’, I got this film after seeing my acting. Before that I was a fashion designer. Had shows in Paris and New York, designing for Hollywood artists. No one knew me there because of my family. The recognition I got there was because of my hard work. Question: What will be the most special memory related to this film? Answer/Khushhali Kumar: This is the first film signed outside my production house and also the first comedy. On receiving the first signing amount, I placed it at the feet of Lord Ganesha. This moment will be most special for me. I try to ensure that a portion of my earnings reach the needy people. I bear the expenses of many girls’ education. Earlier, she used to feed food to the children near her factory every day. I think I have got these values ​​from my father.
