Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar has now clarified the criticism regarding the use of fake mustache in his film ‘Samrat Prithviraj’ (2022). During a podcast, the actor spoke openly on this controversy for the first time and also apologized to the fans. Akshay clarified that not growing a mustache was not out of laziness, but a decision related to the needs of the film and his facial structure. Actually, at the time of the movie’s release, Akshay had to face trolling for his fake moustache. Critics said that Akshay is playing the character of a great emperor, but he did not even grow his mustache for it. He could not have grown the same mustache for ‘Prithviraj’. When Akshay was asked in Shubhankar Mishra’s podcast whether he should not have given more time to the film, he said, I am currently working on many films and looks. Like I have this beard right now, which I haven’t worked on growing for about 6 weeks. According to the story of Emperor Prithviraj, a special kind of mustache was required, which could not grow naturally on my face. Akshay further said that perhaps that mustache did not look good, so if people felt bad then he apologized. What was the whole matter? In fact, in historical films like ‘Samrat Prithviraj’, actors often prepare for their characters months in advance and grow real mustaches and beards, but Akshay Kumar used fake mustaches for this film. When the trailer and poster of the film were released, people started trolling him on social media. Critics and fans said that Akshay is playing the character of a great emperor, but he did not even grow his mustache for this and finished the shooting in just 40-45 days. People compared it to Ranveer Singh’s hard work in ‘Padmaavat’, leading to a debate whether Akshay is not giving enough time and seriousness to his projects. The film was a flop at the box office. Let us tell you that ‘Samrat Prithviraj’, directed by Dr. Chandraprakash Dwivedi, was released in theaters on June 3, 2022. The budget of this film, made under the banner of Yash Raj Films, was around Rs 175 crore, but it could earn only Rs 90 crore worldwide. Manushi Chhillar, Sanjay Dutt and Sonu Sood were in lead roles along with Akshay in the film. Akshay’s ‘fake moustache’ look was also considered a major reason behind the film’s flop. Akshay’s upcoming big projects: Akshay currently has many big films in his pipeline. He will soon be seen in Ahmed Khan’s ‘Welcome to the Jungle’ (Welcome 3). There are many big actors in this film including Raveena Tandon, Disha Patani, Arshad Warsi and Jacqueline Fernandes.
