Film maker Madhur Bhandarkar has praised the film ‘Dhurandhar: The Revenge’. In conversation with Faridoon Shahryar, Bhandarkar described the film’s success as historic, but also expressed displeasure over Bollywood’s ‘silence’ on the film. He said that this film will prove to be a change in the old patterns of the industry. Madhur Bhandarkar also supported Ram Gopal Varma’s statement in which he described the film as an ‘atom bomb’ exploding beneath the industry. Bhandarkar said, I completely agree with what Ramu ji said. Both of us were the first people who tweeted immediately after watching the film. I saw it in a paid preview and called Aditya Dhar to tell him how great the film was. To be honest, I liked ‘Dhurandhar 2’ more than ‘Dhurandhar 1’. South’s stars spoke, but why is Bollywood silent? Bhandarkar expressed surprise at the lack of support in Bollywood. He said, I saw tweets of big stars of South like Mahesh Babu, Allu Arjun, Ram Charan and Rajnikanth sir. They are openly praising the film. But I am surprised that Aditya Dhar did not get the appreciation and support he deserved from the Mumbai film industry. Whether you like the film or not, it is important to accept and praise such a huge success. There is a huge lack of unity in the film industry. Talking about the issue of unity in the industry, Madhur said, I always say that there is no unity in Bollywood. The makers and actors should have come together openly. When a film does so well, it benefits not just one person but every department like spot boy, technician and music director. Aditya Dhar has breathed new life into the industry, which was going through a bad phase for the last two years. There is no comparison to Aditya Dhar’s vision and Bhandarkar described it as a ‘director’s film’. He said, no matter how much money you have, you cannot bring a mind like Aditya Dhar. Today people do not watch the full 1 minute video, but people remained sitting in theaters till 2:45 in the night to watch this film. The screenplay and detailing of the film is tremendous. Especially the emotional connection that comes with Ranveer Singh’s character in the climax is giving goosebumps. I have seen people crying in the theatre. Dhurandhar 2 is continuously breaking records. ‘Dhurandhar: The Revenge’ was released on March 19 and in just 13 days it has created history by crossing the ₹ 1,000 crore mark in the domestic market. The worldwide collection of the film has crossed ₹1,435 crore.
