Director David Dhawan has said that Govinda is still the best actor among the actors he has worked with. David along with his son Varun had arrived as a guest at the grand finale of The Great Indian Kapil Show as Haman.
During the show, David praised his old friend Govinda. He defended Govinda on the news of him coming late to the sets and said that he has no competition in terms of work talent.
Rescued Govinda when he was late
David Dhawan expressed his opinion on the old controversies regarding Govinda being late on the sets. He said, people say that he comes late on the set, who doesn’t come late these days? He comes and leaves after completing his work completely.
David further said that he has worked with many big stars of Bollywood, but among them all he still finds Govinda the best.

Varun said- Papa still remembers Chi Chi Bhaiya
During the episode, Varun Dhawan told that his father is still a big fan of Govinda’s work. Varun said, even today when a new scene is written, father remembers Chi Chi Bhaiya (Govinda). They tell me that if Govinda was here, how would he have done it? They often compare me with Salman Khan, Govinda and Anil Kapoor.
Varun also jokingly told that if an actor does bad work on the set, David calls him a ‘cold actor’ on the mic itself.
Told an interesting story from the film Partner
David shared an incident from the shooting of the film ‘Partner’. He told that Govinda read the four-page long scene only once and completed it in one take. David said, you won’t believe it, it was a four-page scene. When I started setting the shot, he said don’t set it now, just watch me perform.
In that scene he showed such acrobatics that I was stunned. Govinda is really amazing.

‘Chashme Baddoor’ film had increased bitterness
David and Govinda together gave many blockbuster films like ‘Coolie No. 1’, ‘Saajan Chale Sasural’ and ‘Hero No. 1’. However, later their relationship turned sour. Govinda had revealed in an interview that he had given the idea of the film ‘Chashme Baddoor’ to David, but David made the film with someone else without informing him.
Govinda felt bad that his old friend did not even call him about this. After this the distance between the two increased.
