Akshay Kumar told that there came a phase in his career when 16-17 of his films flopped continuously. According to Akshay, I had work but only 3-4 films were left. At that time I felt that I should do something else. I was getting work in Canada, so I had planned to go there and do a small business. During this time, Akshay took Canadian citizenship and got a passport there. Luck changed and he stayed in India. Akshay said that the amazing thing was that the three films of mine which were about to be released, all three became hits. I started getting work in India again. I told my friend that I am not coming now and will stay in India only. In the meantime I forgot about the passport. To me it was just a travel document. ‘Does not do patriotic films to create image’ When Akshay was asked whether he did films like ‘Kesari’ to create the image of a nationalist hero? On this he said, whatever work I do, I do not do it to create my image. I work a lot, but not to create the image of a patriot. I do the work that I like. He said that people think that I do such films to avoid trolling, whereas it is not so. ‘Paid highest tax in India, still people say’ Expressing grief over trolling, Akshay said, people started calling me Canadian-Canadian, so I changed my passport. I don’t understand why people want to talk so much? It was just a passport, whereas I pay taxes in India. Even when I was Canadian, I paid the highest taxes in India. I never paid taxes in Canada, but no one talks about it. Akshay Kumar, who got Indian citizenship in 2023, had Canadian citizenship for a long time, due to which he was trolled a lot on social media.
