Pragati Tiwari is the lead actress in the film Yadav Ji Ki Love Story.
The Supreme Court on Wednesday rejected the demand to ban the film ‘Yadav Ji Ki Love Story’. The court said that there is no word in the name of the film which tarnishes the image of Yadav community.
Vishwa Yadav Parishad had said in the petition that the name of the film depicts the Yadav community in a wrong light. Also, the love story of a Hindu girl and a Muslim boy from Yadav community is shown in the film.
During the hearing, the bench of Justice BV Nagarathna and Justice Ujjal Bhuiyan asked, “Does the marriage of a Hindu girl with a Muslim boy break the social fabric?”
The court said it was different from the ‘Bribery Pandit’ case.
The bench described this case as separate from its recent order related to the film ‘Ghooshkhor Pandit’. The court said that the word ‘bribe’ has the meaning of corrupt, which directly adds negative connotation. Whereas there is no such negative connotation in the name of the current film.
Vishwa Yadav Parishad chief Awadhesh Kumar Yadav has filed the petition.
Court said- If you have objection after release then come again
The petitioner’s lawyer said that the film claims to be based on a true story. To this the court replied, “Even in the film Bandit Queen, the issue of portraying the Gurjar community in a wrong way was raised, even then the court had refused to ban it.”
The lawyer said that the film has not been released yet and if anything is found objectionable after its release, they can come to the court again. On this the bench said, “Just be patient. This is fiction. Everything will be over in a week. Nowadays people are watching on mobile, not in theatre.”
The film will be released on 27th February
The film Yadav Ji Ki Love Story is to be released on 27th February. In this, Pragati Tiwari is the lead actress, who is playing the character of ‘Simple Yadav’. Vishal Mohan will be seen in the role of ‘Wasim Akhtar’. The director of the film is Ankit Bhadana and the producer is Sandeep Tomar.
Pragati Tiwari is a YouTuber and social media influencer. She is the sister of famous YouTuber Mridul Tiwari and has appeared in many comedy videos with him.
Protests are taking place in many cities regarding the film
There are protests in Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and some other states regarding the film. Many Yadav organizations are objecting to its name and story.
The main reason for the protest is said to be the story of the film. Organizations say that the film shows the love story of a Hindu girl and a Muslim youth from Yadav community.
Some people of Yadav community say that this is tarnishing their image and hurting their sentiments. They allege that the name and story of the film specifically targets the Yadav community.
The protesters say that such a story is against the culture, faith and history of the society. Some organizations have also raised objection linking it to ‘Love Jihad’.
Questions have also been raised on the name of the film. Opponents say that the word ‘Yadav ji’ has been used deliberately for publicity and caste identity is being misused. He says that this can have a bad impact on the image of Yadav society.
Officials and workers of Akhil Bharatiya Yadav Mahasabha protested against the film in Mau, Uttar Pradesh.
