The film Sutlej (earlier Punjab 95), which was stalled due to censorship controversy, has also been removed from Zee 5 just 3 days after its OTT release. Many celebs have expressed their displeasure over the sudden removal of the film without giving any concrete reason. Meanwhile, the film’s actor Diljit Dosanjh has appealed to the fans to indulge in piracy and share the film as much as possible. After being removed from the OTT platform, the film is being released on a private channel on YouTube, where a large number of fans are watching the film. Cricketer Harbhajan Singh also watched this film and praised it highly. Meanwhile, many celebs are protesting against the removal of the film.
Actor Ranveer Shorey has written on the removal of the film,
Very disappointed to hear the news of ‘Sutlej’ being removed. I was waiting for this film for a long time. In a country which has an ancient tradition and heritage of learning from stories, it is beyond comprehension why we are promoting the culture of suppressing and hiding stories again and again.

These celebs also protested
Apart from Ranveer Shorey, Soni Razdan and filmmaker Sanjay Gupta have also expressed disappointment over the removal of the film.

Cricketer Harbhajan Singh praised after watching the film
After watching the film, Harbhajan Singh has written in praise of it-
Jallianwala Bagh is one of the most horrific massacres in history. It was carried out by a colonial regime. But the question that resonates most in my mind after watching Jaswant Singh Khalda is something else. What is more painful than the tyranny of an external ruler? When the people who are responsible for protecting their own people are accused of being the cause of biggest fear for them. The duty of a police officer is to protect innocent people, not to abuse his power. Khalda showed courage in bringing forward evidence of alleged illegal disappearances and secret funerals. His story is a reminder that abuse of state power can leave scars that last for generations. Many mothers of Punjab are still waiting for answers. Many families are still waiting for justice. Truth cannot be buried forever. Honey Trehan and Diljit Dosanjh have done a great job in bringing this story to the world. The courage of Jaswant Singh Khalda should always be remembered.

Diljit Dosanjh said – download the film and share it as much as possible
After the film was removed, Diljit Dosanjh came live on Instagram and said that he was not worried. They thought that the film would be removed before 3 days. Apart from this, he has appealed to the fans to download and share it as much as possible and show it to everyone.
Diljit Dosanjh also said – There is humanity, that humanity has died. I am not sad that the film was removed from the internet, because the film has reached the people. Once something is on the Internet, it is not easy to remove it. Their advisors are not good. The same thing happened with this film, which happened with Khalda ji. Punjabi artists have expressed anger over the removal of the film.

After Diljit’s statement came out, Zee 5 has issued an official statement saying, ‘We have hope and we are doing everything for it. Please do not support piracy. We are making every effort to bring back Sutlej film.
Why is the film Sutlej in controversy?

- The Censor Board objected to the title of the film and demanded changes in several scenes.
- After objection from the Censor Board, the name of the film was changed from Punjab 95 to Sutlej.
- It was released in select countries on 7 February 2025.
- In 2023, the film had its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival, where its story and Diljit Dosanjh’s acting received international praise.
- Got permission to release it on OTT platform. No cuts were made in it.
- Streamed on OTT platform Zee5 on 2 July.

According to sources related to the Central Government, there is a possibility of some parts of the film being misused by anti-India forces. According to sources, there is concern that some scenes and content of the film may be used to create an atmosphere in favor of the pro-Khalistan movement, especially before the Punjab Assembly elections. The government believes that “in such cases, issues related to national security are paramount. This is not a matter of politics.
