Leaving behind Jawaharlal Nehru and Indira Gandhi, Narendra Modi now holds the record of being the longest serving Prime Minister in India. He took oath as the Prime Minister of the country for the first time on 26 May 2014. Since then till now his tenure has continued continuously. Before him, the country’s first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru had held this post continuously for 4,398 days (13 May 1952 to 27 May 1964). At the same time, former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi was the Prime Minister of the country for 4,077 consecutive days (24 January 1966 to 24 March 1977).
