Actor Varun Dhawan recently revealed that his daughter Lara was suffering from a disease called Developmental Dysplasia of the Hip (DDH) at the age of one and a half years. Varun told in an interview to ‘Yuva’ that his daughter Lara was diagnosed with DDH. In this disease, the hip slips from its place, due to which one leg can become short or long and there is difficulty in walking. Varun said, in this disease, there is a risk of arthritis and slip disc in future. He said that in western countries, it is treated better at the time of birth, whereas in India, such facilities are not available everywhere, although there are good doctors here too. He told that it was a matter of relief that Lara did not need surgery. Doctors set his hip in the correct position through a special process, after which he had to live in a spica cast (plaster from waist to toe) for about two and a half months. This time was very difficult for the family. Varun described this entire phase as very challenging for the family. She said that it was not easy for such a small girl to stay in the cast for a long time. When Lara regained consciousness after anesthesia, she was uncomfortable, but gradually she adjusted herself to the situation. Now Lara is completely healthy. Varun Dhawan and Natasha Dalal were childhood friends. Both of them got married on 24 January 2021 after dating for several years. After three years of marriage, the couple’s daughter Lara was born in 2024.
