OTT deal of Thalapathy Vijay’s film ‘Jana Nayakan’ cancelled: Amazon Prime Video had made a deal of Rs 120 crore, the movie is stuck in censor controversy.

The problems of Thalapathy Vijay’s last film ‘Jana Nayakan’ have increased once again. According to media reports, due to the ongoing dispute with the censor board and delay in release, OTT platform Amazon Prime Video has canceled its deal with the film. Amazon Prime Video had signed a deal worth around Rs 120 crore for the digital rights of ‘Jana Nayakan’. Fans have been waiting for this film to hit the theaters for the last two months, but its release date has not been finalized yet. Streaming platform backed out from Rs 120 crore deal. It is not yet clear when the film will get the censor certificate and when it will be released in theatres. According to reports, that is why Amazon Prime Video has canceled this deal. Usually OTT platforms make agreements on the basis of theatrical release date only. It was to be released on January 9, the matter reached the court. ‘Jan Nayakan’ was initially planned to be released on January 9. But the Censor Board (CBFC) raised objection on some scenes of the film and directed to remove them. The board believed that some scenes were quite sensitive. After this, the dispute between the makers and the censor board increased and the matter reached the court. Even after more than two months, the film is still hanging in the balance. The screening of March 9 was also cancelled. To resolve the dispute, the makers withdrew the case from the court and approached the revising committee. The screening of the film was scheduled for March 9, but it had to be canceled at the last moment due to a committee member falling ill. The cancellation of the screening has further delayed the review process. This last film of Thalapathy Vijay is considered to be the last film of Vijay. Vijay heads the Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK) party. His party has announced to contest the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections to be held in March-April. Recently Vijay had announced his retirement from his acting career. He decided to say goodbye to films after a long film career of 33 years. He made this announcement during the audio launch of the film in Malaysia. Now he will be fully active in politics.
