Malayalam cinema’s veteran actor Mohanlal and director Priyadarshan are coming together once again. This will be the 100th film of Priyadarshan’s career. The special thing is that Mohanlal had played the lead role in Priyadarshan’s first film and now he will also be a part of his ‘Century’ film.
The film will be a ‘musical drama’, which will be produced under the banner of Ashirwad Cinemas. However, the name of this project has not been decided yet.
Mohanlal wrote an emotional post
Mohanlal expressed his happiness over the film by writing a note on social media. He wrote, “Some achievements don’t belong to any one person. My dear friend Priyan (Priyadarshan) is approaching his 100th film and I have no words to express what this means to me.
100 films is not just a number, but a life full of stories. I feel honored to be a part of this journey.”
Anthony Perumbavoor will produce
The film is being produced by Mohanlal’s close aide and famous producer Anthony Perumbavoor, while Binu George Alexander will be the co-producer. Not much information has been shared about the story of the film yet, but the makers have made it clear that it will be a musical film, different from Priyadarshan’s signature comedy films. The shooting of the film is expected to start soon.
A new record will be made in Indian cinema
This film can set a new record in Indian cinema. It is very rare that an actor who has worked in a director’s first film, plays the lead role in his 100th film also. The duo of Mohanlal and Priyadarshan have given many classic films in the last four decades like ‘Boing Boeing’, ‘Chitram’, ‘Kaalapani’ and ‘Oppam’.
Priyadarshan and Mohanlal are old friends
Priyadarshan started his career in the 1980s. He has given superhit films not only in Malayalam but also in Bollywood like ‘Hera Pheri’, ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa’ and ‘Hungama’. Her pairing with Mohanlal is considered to be the most successful pairing in the Malayalam industry. His last big film was ‘Marakkar: Lion of the Arabian Sea’, which won the National Award.
