The Fairfax County Animal Shelter helped reunite a family with their dog, Chase, who went missing back in 2023.
FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va. — After three years, a family and their canine have reunited. Fairfax County Animal Shelter reunited the missing dog, Chase, with his Maryland family Tuesday morning.
Animal service officers received a call last week about stray pet running around a construction site in Fairfax County. His family wasn’t sure how he got out of their house in Maryland back in March 2023. But after three years, his mom received an email that Chase was waiting for her.
The animal shelter was able to contact the family because Chase was microchipped.
Fairfax County Animal Shelter wants to emphasize the importance of microchipping as it is one of the most reliable methods of reuniting a pet with their family. They offer bi-monthly vaccine and microchip clinics at the Lorton Campus. Their next one is Friday, Jan. 23 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.
