Born in an ordinary home, big dreams
Siddhant Chaturvedi was born on 29 April 1993 in Ballia, Uttar Pradesh. His family moved to Mumbai in his childhood, where he was brought up. His father is a chartered accountant, while his mother is a housewife. Education was always given priority at home. Choosing acting as a career was initially shocking for the family, but seeing their son’s passion, they supported him.
Studies and preparation for CA
Siddhant completed his schooling from Mumbai. In college, he enrolled in B.Com. After this, inspired by his father’s profession, he started studying Chartered Accountancy (CA) and reached the intermediate level. The family wanted him to choose a secure and stable career.
Growing love for theater and stage
During his studies, Siddhant started getting inclined towards theater and stage. He used to perform in college fests, participate in stand-up and spoken word poetry. The appreciation he received on stage boosted his confidence and his passion for acting grew stronger.
Auditions and early struggles
The audition phase in Mumbai was not easy for him. Many times he was told that he did not look like a typical Bollywood hero. His curly hair and Hindi accent were also commented on. But despite all this, he did not give up and continued pursuing his dream of acting.
He was teased for the same reason in school also. But he made this identity his strength.

Siddhant Chaturvedi says- When I started my journey, I did not understand many things. What to wear, where to go, which brand of clothes or shoes would be considered good to wear. My personal styling has never been brand-based.
During my school days, I was teased a lot because I did not wear expensive watches or shoes. But my parents gave me a very good upbringing. He said, “These things will not define you, your work will define you. The day you become something, you yourself will become a brand.”
Fear of losing yourself in the crowd of validation
After coming into the industry, I also tried a lot of things in order to be like the country, like the disguise. But then I realized that I was losing myself. Just trying to blend in with the crowd, looking for validation. I reached the parties, but the biggest sorrow was that talent is not appreciated there.
There you get points based on what you are wearing, where you have come from and in what tone you are talking. When you speak pure Hindi, people look at you as if you are not able to understand anything.
Talent is bigger than star factor
Then I pulled myself back and said – I am Siddhant Chaturvedi, I am from Ballia and will remain there. It’s been quite a journey. Once there was a discussion about a very talented young actor. “He doesn’t have the star factor,” the agency said. When asked why, the answer was, “Lack of English and presentation.”
I started thinking – in a country where 60 percent of the population lives in villages and on whose hands our economy depends, are we still selling the same thinking, decades after we got independence? Talent should be the biggest factor. And today the same artist is doing brilliant work.
Started with ad films and small projects
Before films, Siddhant also worked in some advertising films (ad films). This was the first step for him to become comfortable in front of the camera. He worked for many small brands and digital campaigns. These experiences gave him an understanding of the audition process and the workings of the industry.
First big opportunity from web series
Siddhant got his first big break from the web series ‘Inside Edge’. In this series, Siddhant Chaturvedi played the role of a novice fast bowler named Prashant Kanojia. This role was small, but effective.
It was from here that the industry noticed him. He himself told that he used to play every small role as his last hope. This stage proved to be an acting laboratory for him.
First big break in Bollywood, Gully Boy became the turning point
The film ‘Gully Boy’ became the turning point of Siddhant’s career. Siddhant had come to audition for this film and director Zoya Akhtar was impressed by his performance and gave him the role of MC Sher.
The film starred Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt in the lead roles, but despite limited screen time, Siddhant left a deep impression. His dialogue – “Apna time will not come, it has to be brought.” Became very popular among the youth. He received the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actor for this role.
To prepare for this role, Siddhant spent time with the street rappers of Mumbai and understood the rap culture closely.
Recognition in mainstream from ‘Bunty Aur Babli 2’
After the success of ‘Gully Boy’, Siddhant started getting many big projects. She shared the screen with veteran actors like Saif Ali Khan and Rani Mukherjee in ‘Bunty Aur Babli 2’. Although the film did not perform as expected at the box office, Siddhant’s presence played an important role in establishing him as a mainstream young star.
