The film ‘The Kerala Story 2’ is directed by Kamakhya Narayan Singh and produced by Vipul Shah.
Kerala High Court on Thursday stayed the release of the film ‘The Kerala Story 2’. After questions were raised regarding the censor certificate, the court directed the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) to review the film again.
The film was scheduled to release on Friday i.e. 27th February. Some people filed a petition in the court saying that the name and story of the film can tarnish the image of Kerala. The petitioners say,
Issues like forced religious conversion and terrorism are shown in the film. This may send a wrong message about entire Kerala and may inflame people’s sentiments.

The court had said on Wednesday that it would take a decision after watching the film, but the producer refused to show the film. During the hearing, the court had said that there is mutual harmony in Kerala, but in the film it has been shown as if such incidents are happening in the entire state.

Ulka Gupta, Aditi Bhatia and Aishwarya Ojha will be seen in the lead roles in the film The Kerala Story 2.
Censor Board said- We did not pass the teaser
The film producer’s lawyer said that this case is like a public interest litigation and the petitioners have not stated their personal loss. The petitioners replied that if many people have similar concerns then they should also be heard.
There was debate regarding the teaser also. The Censor Board said that it has not approved the teaser or trailer, hence it is not responsible for the content posted on social media.
Producer had refused to change the title
Producer Vipul Shah had also opposed the change in the title of the film during the hearing on Wednesday. He said that the stories of three states have been shown in the film, which includes Kerala.
He said that the word “Goes Beyond” written in the title of the film means that the story is not limited to Kerala only, but also shows the events beyond that.
The producer defended the title, saying that the film does not target Kerala unfairly.
Hearing continues on three petitions
The Kerala High Court is hearing three petitions, which were filed by three different people. In these petitions, there was a demand to ban the release of the film and cancel the certificate of CBFC.

Kerala Story 2 is the sequel to the 2023 film The Kerala Story.
