Veteran filmmaker Priyadarshan has spoken openly about working with actor Kartik Aryan. He told that once upon a time he had approached Kartik Aryan for his film Hungama-2, but the actor refused to do the film. On this Priyadarshan said that he does not like begging for work from any actor.
In an interview given to Pinkvilla, Priyadarshan said that sometimes actors do not refuse directly, but distance themselves from the project by talking to them respectfully. According to him, if an artiste does not trust the director or the script, then he does not believe in convincing him forcefully. He clearly said, “I don’t beg any actor to do a film. I work with only those who trust my work.”

Priyadarshan revealed that the concept of Hungama 2 was narrated not only to Kartik Aryan but also to Ayushmann Khurrana and Sidharth Malhotra. However, all three actors refused to do this film. After this, Priyadarshan completed the project by taking Meezaan Jaffrey in the lead role in the film.
The director believes that many times the actors are unable to trust the script or the director and hence walk away from the project. But he doesn’t take it personally and is ready to work with new artists.
Cast is decided after the script
Priyadarshan said that he never writes a film keeping any particular actor in mind. First prepare the complete story and characters, then decide which actor will be best fit for that role.
According to him, if a star refuses to do a film then it is a normal part of the industry. As a director, his job is to make a good story, not to run after the actors.
‘Bhoot Bangla’ will be released soon
Talking about the work front, Priyadarshan is in the news these days for his new horror-comedy film ‘Bhoot Bangla’. Akshay Kumar will be seen in the lead role in this film and this film is going to be released in theaters on 10 April 2026.
After almost 14 years, the pair of Akshay Kumar and Priyadarshan are coming back together. There will be a touch of horror along with comedy in the film and the audience has high expectations from it.
Priyadarshan is counted among the most successful comedy directors of Hindi cinema. He has made many popular films like Hera Pheri, Hungama, Chup Chup Ke and Bhool Bhulaiyaa.
