Special tribute is being paid to Bollywood actor Dharmendra in the first International Film Festival (IFFD 2026) started in Delhi. He was posthumously given the Lifetime Achievement Award at the festival.
Along with him, veteran actress Sharmila Tagore has also been selected for this special honour. Dharmendra’s wife and actress Hema Malini herself will reach Delhi to receive this award. This film festival will run till 31 March.

Speaking to ANI, Hema Malini congratulated the festival organizer Rekha Gupta. He said, “Organizing such an international film festival in Delhi is a great initiative. It will run for about 4-5 days.
Many artists have been invited and they will be honored. Since Dharam ji is also being paid tribute, I will personally be present there and accept his honour.”
Bollywood celebs reaching Bharat Mandapam
IFFD 2026 started on Wednesday evening at Bharat Mandapam in Delhi. The inauguration ceremony was hosted by Arjun Kapoor and Nimrat Kaur. Big stars like Vicky Kaushal, Sanya Malhotra, Siddhant Chaturvedi, Anupam Kher and Lauren Gottlieb are attending this event.
The festival, which will run from March 25 to March 31, will include film screenings as well as cinema-related workshops and discussions.

Dharmendra has done 300 films
Dharmendra, one of Bollywood’s most favorite actors, died in November 2025. His last film was ‘Ikkis’, which was well received by critics and audiences. He is survived by two wives, Hema Malini and Prakash Kaur.
Dharmendra has six children, including superstars Sunny Deol, Bobby Deol, Esha Deol and Ahana Deol. Dharmendra had worked in more than 300 films in his career.

Sharmila Tagore’s contribution to cinema
The second big personality to receive the Lifetime Achievement Award is Sharmila Tagore. He is known for his acting in classic films like ‘Kashmir Ki Kali’, ‘Waqt’, ‘Aradhana’ and ‘Amar Prem’. Sharmila Tagore is still active in films and was recently seen in some OTT projects.
