Ajay Devgan starrer film ‘Bhola’, released in the year 2023, is now stuck in legal trouble. This film was a remake version of the 2019 Tamil film Kaidi. Now the original producers of Qaidi have reached the Bombay High Court against the makers of the film Bhola. He alleges that the makers of ‘Bhola’ have violated the terms of the remake and copyright agreement and have not paid the stipulated amount. Controversy started over non-payment. The production house ‘Dream Warrior Pictures’, which made ‘Prisoner’, has registered this case. The company claims that they own the remake rights of the film. According to the report, an agreement was signed with Reliance Entertainment Studios for the Hindi remake in February 2023. Under this, the production house was to get ‘assignment fee’ in installments, but the company alleges that they received only Rs 1 crore in 2022 and the remaining two payments are still pending. Demand of Rs 4 crore and interest: Under the agreement between Dream Warrior Pictures, Reliance and Ajay Devgan Ffilms LLP, all three had equal remake rights, while the commercial rights were given to Reliance. Due to non-payment of money, the production house had issued a legal notice on 28 October 2024. In this, a demand of Rs 4 crore has been made along with interest. The notice also warned that if payment was not made within 30 days, the agreement would be canceled and all rights would be withdrawn. The case reached Bombay High Court from NCLT. Earlier, Dream Warrior Pictures had approached the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) to initiate bankruptcy proceedings against Reliance Entertainment. However, in August 2025 the tribunal rejected the petition and said the dispute should be resolved in a civil court. Now this matter is pending in the Bombay High Court, where the bench of Justice Sharmila Deshmukh will hear it.
