Bengali cinema actor Rahul Arunoday Banerjee died in an accident yesterday. He was shooting for the TV show ‘Bhole Baba Paar Karega’ at Talasari beach in Odisha when he drowned. His co-actress Shweta Mishra’s life was saved in this accident. Investigation revealed that the production team had neither taken permission nor informed the administration. On the death of the actor, SP of Balasore (Odisha) said, ‘Yesterday Talasari police received information from Digha police that a Bengali actor has died and the body is in Digha hospital. Investigation revealed that at around 5:30 pm, Rahul Banerjee and Shweta Mishra were dancing in knee-deep water during the shooting, when they fell into the pit. The team immediately took him to the hospital, but he could not be saved. The SP further said, ‘The team neither gave information nor took permission for the shooting. Talsari and Digha police are working together to take further action. Co-star’s claim – Accident happened after pack-up According to the police, the actor died during the shooting, but co-star Dingata Bagchi told PTI that after pack-up, he went alone to the sea, where his leg got stuck. There was chaos on the set after getting caught in the waves. The team took him out to Digha Hospital, where doctors declared him dead. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee paid tribute After the news of the demise of actor Rahul Banerjee, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee wrote on social media on Sunday night, ‘Young and popular actor Rahul is no longer among us. I am very sad and shocked to hear this news. I don’t understand how this happened. He was one of my favorite artists and a very nice person. I express my deepest condolences to his family, close ones and loved ones. Rahul’s sudden departure is a big loss for the Bengali film industry. Rahul Arunoday Banerjee gained recognition from the 2008 film ‘Chirodini Tumi Je Amar’. After this he worked in ‘Tumi Asbe Bole’ (2014), ‘Zulfikar’ (2016), ‘Byomkesh Gotro’ (2018), ‘Biday Byomkesh’ (2018) and ‘The Academy of Fine Arts’ (2025). He also worked in TV serials ‘Horoguri Pise Hotel’ and ‘Mohona’.
