Veteran Indian music singer Asha Bhosle passed away at the age of 92. He breathed his last at Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai on Sunday afternoon. He was admitted here on Saturday evening.
He had a deep and emotional relationship with Madhya Pradesh. Her childhood was spent in Murai locality of Cantonment area of Indore, memories of which she often shared. The culture and environment of Indore had a deep impact on his personality.
According to relative Manoj Binwale, resident of Indore, Asha Tai was very fond of the sweet wheat rotis of Sehore and she used to order wheat from Indore many times. He had a special attachment to the food and drink of Indore. He was very fond of Gulab Jamun, Rabdi and Dahi Bade of Sarafa Ki Khau Gali. In her childhood she used to go to Sarafa Chowpatty.

Came to Indore 17 years ago
About 17 years ago, when she came to Indore for a program, she stayed in Sayaji Hotel. He had ordered home-cooked food from relatives. She herself was fond of making new dishes.
Relative Manoj Binwale, who lives in Indore, tells that in childhood, Asha Bhosle, along with her sisters Lata Mangeshkar, Meena and mother, used to walk about 2.5 km from the cantonment to Topkhana to have a meal once.
According to him, Asha Tai’s love for Indore was more than that of Lata Mangeshkar. She used to come to Indore more often. Due to getting married at a young age, she could not spend much time here, but she always liked the namkeen of Indore, the sweets of Sarafa and the sherbati wheat of Sehore.

Vijayvargiya said – close relationship with Indore
Expressing grief over her demise, Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya said that Asha Bhosle’s voice took Indian music to new heights and her association with Indore was a matter of pride for the city. The family lived in Indore for some time with his father Dinanath Mangeshkar’s drama company. During this time, his elder sister Lata Mangeshkar was born in Indore.
Legacy of more than 12 thousand songs
Asha Bhosle sang more than 12,000 songs in more than 20 languages. His songs like ‘Piya Tu Ab To Aaja’, ‘Dum Maaro Dum’, ‘Chura Liya Hai Tumne’, ‘In Aankhon Ki Masti’ are popular even today. He made his mark in every genre like ghazal, bhajan, pop and classical and worked with composers like OP Nayyar, RD Burman, AR Rahman.

He sang his first song in 1943 in the Marathi film ‘Majha Bal’ and in Hindi cinema in the 1948 film ‘Chunariya’. The first marriage done at a young age broke up after 11 years. After this he spent a long time alone and then met musician R.D. Married to Burman.
Name is registered in Guinness Book Asha Bhosle was honored with Dadasaheb Phalke Award, Padma Vibhushan, National Award and many Filmfare Awards. His name is also recorded in the Guinness Book. She was also the first Indian singer to be nominated for a Grammy Award.
