Announcing this, he has said that after feeling insulted in the temple, he adopted Islam and soon he is going to change his name also. In an interview given to Galata Plus, Jai has told that he started following Islam from 2011, but till date the name has not changed. He said that he used to wear garlands for Sabarimala. After this, he also wore Jesus’ rosary and kept fast for a year. They followed all the gods and goddesses, thinking that all was well. But then a time came when he had to be humiliated in the temple. Jai further told in the conversation that after being insulted in the temple, he started going to the mosque, where he saw that everyone was standing in a line and praying. The actor said in the interview, ‘Everyone knew that I was an actor, but no one talked to me in the mosque. Only after coming out did he talk to me, that too politely. He considers everyone equal. For them God is supreme. Even if it is a celebrity, they do not consider him big. He further said, ‘Nobody pushes you or asks you to leave while praying in mosques. We can stay there as long as we want. This is an experience like yoga. Now my nature has also changed. Jai says that his career has nothing to do with religious conversion. The actor has told that he will soon change his name from Jaykant to Aziz Jai. His family members are also happy with his decision, because before this he did not follow any religion.
