Director Aditya Dhar has got a big relief from two different courts on Thursday in the controversy of plagiarism of the story of the film ‘Dhurandhar’. The Karnataka High Court rejected the petition seeking cancellation of the film’s censor certificate. At the same time, complainant Santosh assured in the Bombay High Court that he will no longer make any defamatory statement against the director. Karnataka HC did not find merit in the complaint. Single bench of Justice K S Hemalekha rejected the petition of Bengaluru screenwriter Santosh Kumar. Santosh had demanded that the CBFC certificate of the film ‘Dhurandhar’ be canceled as it is a copy of his original script ‘D-Sahab’. While hearing the petition, the court said that there is no merit in this complaint. However, the main case filed by Santosh regarding compensation is still pending in the court. Guarantee given in Bombay High Court: Aditya Dhar had filed a defamation case against Santosh Kumar. Before Justice Arif Doctor in the Bombay High Court on Thursday, Santosh’s lawyer said that Santosh will no longer make any objectionable comment against the director in public. Aditya’s lawyers had demanded an apology for calling him a ‘thief’, but Santosh’s legal team refused. They say they will continue to fight the legal battle. What is the whole controversy? The controversy started after the release of ‘Dhurandhar’ and its sequel. Santosh Kumar claims that the story of the film has been heavily copied from his registered script ‘D-Sahab’. He said that his script is registered with the Screenwriters Association (SWA). When Santosh publicly accused Aditya Dhar, the director first sent him a legal notice and then appealed in the Bombay High Court.
