There is a dispute in the Supreme Court regarding the property worth about Rs 30 thousand crores of actress Karisma Kapoor’s ex-husband and late industrialist Sanjay Kapoor. While hearing the case on Monday, the court advised Sanjay’s 80-year-old mother Rani Kapoor to resolve the matter through mediation instead of a long legal battle. A bench of Justice JB Pardiwala remarked, “This trial has started at the age of 80…this is not the age to fight.” The court said – the legal battle will last a long time. While hearing the petition of Rani Kapoor, the Supreme Court said that many parties and huge assets are involved in this case, hence this legal battle can drag on for a long time. The bench suggested that it would be better for all the parties to find a peaceful solution through mediation. However, the court also made it clear that they will hear the case on merit basis, but will give first priority to mutual agreement. The next hearing on this matter will be held next week. Mother accuses daughter-in-law of cheating. Rani Kapoor has challenged in the Supreme Court the order of Delhi High Court, in which she was refused interim protection. Rani alleges that she has been dispossessed of her entire inheritance, house and property. He said in his petition that after he suffered a brain stroke in 2017, his son Sanjay Kapoor and daughter-in-law Priya Kapoor took advantage of his illness. It is alleged that a family trust was created by making him sign plain papers and without his knowledge the property was transferred to the name of the trust. Sanjay Kapoor died in 2025. This entire controversy deepened after the death of Sanjay Kapoor in June last year. Sanjay Kapoor, 53, died of cardiac arrest during a polo match in England. Rani Kapoor says that after the death of her son, her third wife Priya Kapoor took control of the entire group companies and did not give her any share in the property. Rani Kapoor is now seeking legal protection to secure her property and house. Karisma Kapoor’s children also claim that this fight over Sanjay Kapoor’s legacy is not just between mother and daughter-in-law. It also includes Bollywood actress Karisma Kapoor’s children – Samaira and Kiaan. Sanjay and Karishma’s children have challenged Sanjay’s will, in which a major part of the property has been named in the name of Priya Kapoor and her children. The children allege that this will may be fake and other close relatives of the family have been deliberately excluded from it.
