Actress Sonam Bajwa’s film ‘Pit Siyapa’ is embroiled in controversy in Chandigarh. Due to copyright dispute, Chandigarh Court has currently banned the release of the film. This film was scheduled to release on 1 May. As per the case, writer Rajan Nandan claims that the story of the film is based on the script written by him. He told that this script was registered in the year 2021. According to the writer, when the promo of the film ‘Pitta Siyapa’ was released on 27 March 2026, he came to know that the story of the film was similar to his script. After this, on April 1, 2026, he sent a legal notice to the parties related to the film. The next hearing will be on April 28. As the matter escalated, the author filed a petition regarding copyright in the Chandigarh court. After the preliminary hearing, the court has ordered to ban the release of the film. Now the next hearing in this case will be on 28 April 2026, where the court will decide on further action. There was a controversy over the shooting of the film. There was a controversy regarding the shooting of the film in Sirhind Masjid. Punjab’s Shahi Imam Mohammad Usman Ludhianvi had expressed strong displeasure over the matter, calling it “crossing all limits of sacrilege”. Shahi Imam had sent a complaint to SSP Fatehgarh, in which he said that the film was shot inside the mosque at night. It is alleged that food was organized in the mosque premises, which is strictly against religious decorum. He said, there is a clear board outside the mosque, in which the order to ban shooting is pasted. Despite this, the team filmed the scenes and did not stop the shooting even after being stopped. Shahi Imam said that some scenes of the film are against religious beliefs. The mosque is under the Archeology Department. After the controversy the film team reached Ludhiana.
