After projects like web series ‘The Night Manager’, ‘The Royals’ and ‘Broken But Beautiful’, director Priyanka Ghosh is now coming out with her new project ‘Teen Kauwe’. He is considered to be adept in thriller and spy genre. We talked to him about the entire process of this series from idea to making. How did the idea of ​​’Teen Crows’ come about? Is it fictional or inspired by a real story? This is a completely fictional story. Its idea was conceived by writer and creator Abbas Tyrewala 7–8 years ago and developed in a long process. As the story progressed, the characters and the world grew. In the end it was considered better for a series rather than a film. Abbas roped me in as director and co-creator along with Siddharth Roy Kapur. After the success of ‘Dhurandhar’, did you feel any pressure regarding ‘Teen Kauwe’ of the same genre? Not pressure, but encouragement. Have worked in this genre before too, like ‘The Night Manager’. Every genre has a different tone and story. The world, characters and tone of ‘Teen Crows’ are completely different. How were big cast members like Bobby Deol and Kabir Bedi onboarded? Explored many options with the casting director. After discussion with producer, writer and Amazon Prime, narration was given to the actors. Luckily, everyone who wanted it said yes with excitement. Meaning of the title ‘Teen Crows’? Can’t disclose right now. We will know gradually when the trailer arrives. The faces seen in the teaser are not necessarily the same ‘Three Crows’. What were the biggest challenges during the shooting? The whole year was spent in shooting. Health problems of the actors, rain in March, storm in Ladakh – despite everything, the team cooperated fully. Network disruption was resolved with the help of Indian Army. What was special in the visual treatment and music? The priority was to present the story correctly. Visuals, sound and music were meticulously worked upon in pre-production. With the help of action director Ejaz Gulab and French martial arts expert Yannick Benn, ‘hand-to-hand combat’ sequences were created. How were the sound and music coordinated? Worked with Achint Thakkar and Parth Parekh. The pace and mood of each sequence was ensured during editing. Any special technique to maintain suspense in the series? The story is written three times – writing, shooting and editing. During editing, attention was paid to every twist and tension so that the audience remains engaged till the end. Can Indian spy projects reach Hollywood scale? It is difficult to compete with the budget of big Hollywood franchises, but we are not behind in quality even in low budget. Films like ‘Dhurandhar’, ‘Pathan’, ‘War’ and series like ‘The Family Man’, ‘Special Ops’ are examples of this. What were the shooting locations? The series is completely based on India. Shooting took place at locations like Mumbai, Ladakh, Goa, Pune, Wai and Mahabaleshwar.
