Premiere of Mahesh Manjrekar’s play Animal in Mumbai: Many celebs including Jacqueline Fernandez and Anusha Dandekar came to watch the play.

Actor Mahesh Manjrekar’s Hindi play Animal premiered at Tata Theater in Mumbai on Saturday night. Celebs like Jacqueline Fernandez, Siddharth Jadhav, Anusha Dandekar and Sumedh Mudgalkar were present at the premiere. Mahesh Manjrekar’s daughters Sai Manjrekar, Gauri Ingwale and son Satya Manjrekar also attended the event. Cricketer Dilip Vengsarkar reached Manali with his wife. The play Animal, produced by Ashwin Gidwani, was written, directed and presented by Mahesh Manjrekar. Animal will be next staged on March 29 at Sophia Bhabha Auditorium. Mahesh Manjrekar also sang some songs and danced during the presentation. After nearly nine years of discussion and preparation, Animal was staged. Mahesh Manjrekar acted alone in this staging of about two hours. Before going on stage, Mahesh Manjrekar said that it is necessary for every theater artist to have nervousness and overconfidence can spoil things. He said that he wanted to do this play for a long time and hopes to make it successful. Dattu’s story in the play: The center of the play is the character of Dattu, played by Mahesh Manjrekar. Dattu comes to Mumbai from a small town near Pandharpur in Maharashtra and tries to make his mark in the city. Over time he becomes embroiled in conflicts that affect his life. Mahesh Manjrekar described the play as a cartoonist’s look at city life. He said that many people consider Mumbai as a city of dreams, but behind those who achieve success, there are many people whose dreams are not fulfilled. The play also comments on political, economic, geopolitical and socio-cultural situations through Dattu’s journey. The story also includes references to pop culture and the film industry.
