Claim- Rani Mukherjee never signed ‘OMG 3’: Makers had approached; The matter did not progress after initial discussion

On the news of Rani Mukherjee’s involvement in the third film of the franchise ‘Oh My God’, reports have claimed that she was never signed for this film. The talks had stopped at the initial stage itself. According to the report of Variety India, there were initial talks about taking Rani Mukherjee as the lead heroine in the film. Akshay Kumar is said to be seen in an extended cameo role in the film. According to sources, Rani was narrated a small outline of the story of the film and she was also interested in it. However, the talks could not proceed further. According to a source, Akshay and Rani have a good relationship for a long time, but the discussions were at a very early stage. The ‘OMG’ franchise is known for its satires on faith, belief and religious institutions. The third film ‘Oh My Goddess’ plans to present a new story with a divine feminine twist. It is said to maintain the franchise’s blend of humor and social commentary. Let us tell you that Oh My God was released in the year 2012. It starred Paresh Rawal and Akshay Kumar. The film was directed by Umesh Shukla. Whereas Oh My God 2 was released in the year 2023. It featured Pankaj Tripathi, Akshay Kumar and Yami Gautam. Its director was Amit Rai. The makers are currently searching for the second female lead and Amit Rai will direct the film OMG 3. The film is being produced in collaboration with Vikram Malhotra’s Abundantia Entertainment and Akshay Kumar’s banner. According to the report, the shooting of the film may start around May–June 2026 and the makers are looking for the second female lead. Talking about Rani Mukherjee’s work front, her recently released film ‘Mardaani 3’ has been successful at the box office. The film has earned around Rs 50 crore nett in India and more than Rs 74 crore nett worldwide. Rani will be seen in a cameo role with Shahrukh Khan in Siddharth Anand’s film ‘King’, which is scheduled to release on Christmas 2026.
