It is noteworthy that this appearance has come at a time when Vijay’s wife Sangeeta has recently filed for divorce. The petition alleges that Vijay had an extra-marital relationship with another actress, which caused him deep emotional pain and mental distress. According to the petition, Vijay initially assured her that the relationship would end soon, but it is alleged that the relationship continued, subjecting her to mental harassment, public embarrassment through social media activities and emotional neglect. The petition also said that between September 2021 to February 2022 and again from August 2024 to February 2025, attempts were made to resolve the matter amicably through lawyers and personal talks, but no agreement could be reached. It has been claimed in the petition that the marriage has completely broken down and remains only on paper. Along with this, he has demanded permanent alimony as per Vijay’s income and the right to live in his in-laws house in Neelankarai or alternative accommodation till the case is decided. An appeal has also been made to conduct the proceedings behind closed doors.
