Mrinal Thakur was born on 1 August 1992 in Dhule, Maharashtra. His father Uday Thakur was working in a bank, whose job was transferable. Due to posting the family shifted from Dhule to Mumbai. Mother Vandana Thakur is a housewife. In the family, he has an elder brother Dhawal Thakur and an elder sister Lochan Thakur.
The sister is known as a make-up artist, while her brother Dhawal Thakur is an engineer and works as an actor, best known for his role in Jio Hotstar’s web series ‘Thukra Ke Mera Pyaar’.
Journey from Dhule to Mumbai
Due to his father’s bank job, the family started living permanently in Mumbai. This change proved to be an important turning point in Mrinal’s life, because the direction of further studies and career was decided from Mumbai only.

However, when Mrunal was giving auditions for films, she was rejected saying that she has been exposed a lot on TV and no one would take her in films.

Mrunal Thakur’s film ‘Love Sonia’ was based on human trafficking. Mrinal told that when the casting for the film was going on, his audition was kept locked in a folder on which it was clearly written that opening was prohibited. That is, the file which was not to be viewed.
However, the film’s director Tabrez Noorani opened the folder, saw the audition and called him to meet him personally. After a face-to-face conversation, the director was convinced that she could play the character of Sonia.

In the film, Sonia is a simple girl from a village. For this character, the actress also had to explain a lot about her look. He told that he had to convince producer David Vomark and the rest of the team that with make-up, hair styling and technical help, a natural look could be given as per the character. Mrinal auditioned for the film. His test was so impressive that he was selected for the lead role opposite Hrithik Roshan. In the film, she played the character of Anand Kumar’s wife ‘Supriya’. Mrinal had to give three rounds of auditions for this character.
In the first round, there was a basic audition in which scenes were performed. In the second round, there was an intense scene test, so that their emotional range could be tested. In the third round of audition, screen test was taken for the character of Supriya in plain and Bihari look.

How did you get a chance in ‘Batla House’?
After ‘Super 30’, Mrunal Thakur started being seen as a credible new actress in the industry. His simplicity and emotional performance in the film caught the attention of the makers. When the casting of ‘Batla House’ was going on, director Nikhil Advani and his team were looking for a face who looked realistic and down to earth.
