
A 76-year-old pedestrian was killed in a hit-and-run in Prince George’s County, prompting a investigation as police consult prosecutors.
WASHINGTON — The victim in a deadly hit-and-run crash on Monday in Prince George’s County has been identified.
On Wednesday, police identified the victim as Antonio Gonzalez, 76, of Temple Hills.
On Monday, police were called to the 3000 block of Branch Avenue for a crash involving a pedestrian.
When they arrived, officers found Gonzalez in a parking lot with significant injuries. He was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The driver, who caused the crash, did not stay at the scene.
Police began canvassing the area and found the suspected driver and recovered the car believed to be involved in the crash. The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit (CARU) is investigating to determine the cause of the crash.
No charges have been filed at this time. CARU is consulting with the Prince George’s County State’s Attorney’s Office about the case.
