Actor-director Sunil Anand, son of late Bollywood veteran actor Dev Anand, died in London on the morning of 26 July. He was 70 years old. According to family sources, after suffering a heart attack, he breathed his last in the same hospital where his father Dev Anand had died in 2011. His niece Jeena Narang has confirmed this news by issuing an official statement. The family has appealed to people to maintain their privacy in this difficult time. Niece Jeena Narang issued an official statement. Information about Sunil Anand’s demise was given by his niece Jeena Narang on behalf of the family. The note issued read, “It is with a heavy heart that our family informs about the demise of Sunil Anand. We are grateful to everyone for the love, prayers and support received during this difficult time. We request everyone to respect our privacy so that together we can overcome this difficult period.” However, the family has not yet shared information related to the funeral. Sunil Anand started his acting career in 1984 with the film ‘Anand Aur Anand’ directed by his father Dev Anand. After this he also worked in films like ‘Car Thief’ and ‘Main Tere Liye’. However, he could not get the success and recognition as an actor like his father. After this he decided to work behind the scenes instead of working in front of the camera. Took over the work of Navketan Films: After not getting the desired success in acting in films, Sunil Anand took over the responsibility of the family’s prestigious production banner ‘Navketan Films’. He remained associated with this production house for a long time and kept taking its work forward. He made a significant contribution in keeping Dev Anand’s cinematic legacy alive and handling the banner he created. In the family, 94-year-old mother Kalpana Karthik and sister Devika Sunil Anand leaves behind his 94-year-old mother and yesteryear’s famous actress Kalpana Karthik and sister Devika. His mother and sister currently live in Ooty, Tamil Nadu. Sunil was the only son of Dev Anand and Kalpana Karthik.
