The second season of the web series ‘Thukra Ke Mera Pyaar’ is getting a great response from the audience. On this occasion, lead actors Dhaval Thakur and Sanchita Basu spoke openly to Dainik Bhaskar about their struggle, journey from social media to films, casting scam, shooting stories and love. Question: What was the first thought that came to your mind when you got the offer of ‘Thukra Ke Mera Pyaar’? Answer/Dhaval Thakur: The biggest thing for me was that I got such a good opportunity. I wanted to start preparing for the character by reading the script as soon as possible. The effort was to be completely honest with this character. Sanchita Basu: I liked the character of Shanvi very much from the beginning. I studied in a girls’ school, so I could never live a college life. Through this character I felt that I would be able to live that experience too. Question: When both of you met for the first time, what did you think of each other? Answer/Dhaval Thakur: We first met during the audition. The professional relationship started from there. Later, we developed a friendship during workshops and script readings, which strengthened our onscreen chemistry. Sanchita Basu: When we met for the first time, Dhawal seemed very calm. Later it came to light that he is a very good person. After working together for two years, our understanding became so good that many times we understood each other even without speaking. Question: How did you get the opportunity to reach this series? Answer/Dhaval Thakur: Got a call from Bombay Show Studios. Character information and some scenes were sent. Then met Sachin sir and Kamal sir. Gave audition and got selected. Sanchita Basu: At that time I was shooting a Telugu film in Hyderabad. Audition mail came from Jio Hotstar. I recorded the audition from there and sent it and after about 15 days I got the selection call. Question: How did the journey from social media to films begin? Answer/Sanchita Basu: I never thought that acting would become my career. She used to make videos as a hobby in ninth class. Initially views did not come for months, but did not stop making videos. Then one day the video went viral and from there life started changing. During this time, after seeing my reels, I got an offer for a Telugu film. Initially I thought it was a fake call, because nowadays many such fake calls come. Couldn’t believe someone was calling for a movie. But my manager and casting director Navneet Jha assured me that everything was real. The most interesting thing was that the shooting of the film for which I was selected had already been completed with another actress. Later the makers decided to cast a new face and re-shot the entire film with me. At that time I was studying in 11th class. She used to go from Bhagalpur to Hyderabad for shooting and after returning she also gave online exams. For me it was no less than a dream. Question: Dhawal, your sister Mrinal Thakur is already in the industry. Despite this, have you faced fake auditions or casting scams during your struggle? Answer/Dhaval Thakur: Absolutely. I almost became a victim of a casting scam. During my college days, I went for an audition after seeing a casting post on social media. Packages of Rs 10, 15 and 20 thousand were shown there. It was said that first get the portfolio and card made, only then you will get work. This happened to me twice. Then I realized that this is not an audition but a way to extort money from new artists. Later I met some actors who connected me with the Genuine Casting Group. From there the right auditions started coming. I would like to tell new artists to never pay money in the name of audition. Real casting directors never ask for money. Question: Sanchita, how much support did you get from your family? Answer/Sanchita Basu: Mom always stood by me. But papa did not know for a long time that I make videos. Got a chance to do a song in Zee Music during Corona. After the news was published in the newspaper, he came to know for the first time that I was working in this field. Initially he was worried, but after the release of ‘Thukra Ke Mera Pyaar’ his outlook completely changed. Question: What was the most special compliment you received after this series? Answer/Sanchita Basu: The most special compliment for me was from my father. After watching the entire series, he just said, “Very well done.” He doesn’t speak much, but the happiness in his eyes was the biggest reward for me. Dhaval Thakur: The family said that after seeing me on the screen, it did not seem at all that I was Dhaval. It seemed as if a boy from a village in Uttar Pradesh was standing in front. There can’t be a bigger compliment than this for an actor. Question: What was the funniest incident of shooting? Answer/Sanchita Basu: I had to learn to ride a bike for the first season. I fell off the bike several times during the shooting. Whenever Dhawal used to sit in the back, I used to tell him, “When I speak, press the brake immediately.” Dhaval Thakur (laughing): I used to tell him, “I have long legs, nothing will happen to me. You just worry about yourself.” The entire unit knew that I did not have much experience in riding a bike. The day the bike scene took place, everyone was alert in advance. Question: What did you learn from each other after working together for two seasons? Answer/Sanchita Basu: After working together for two years, we have started understanding each other well. I learned from Dhaval that while doing any scene, one should first understand its requirement. Then acting automatically becomes easy. Dhaval Thakur: The best thing about Sanchita is that if she is told something new, she tries her best to learn it. I learned from him how to manage social media along with shooting. Even on her days off, she herself would shoot, edit and post reels. I have seen his hard work very closely. Question: What will you do if someone rejects your love in real life? Answer/Dhaval Thakur: I do not believe in revenge. The best path is to forgive and move on. If you’re just working to prove something to someone, that won’t last long. It is more important to work for yourself. Sanchita Basu: I too will not take revenge. I might cry a little, but then I will move on. Not everything can be answered with anger. Question: Why should viewers watch ‘Thukra Ke Mera Pyaar’ Season 2? Answer/Sanchita Basu: Like the first season, people have given a lot of love to the second season as well. This is not just a love story, but a story of different circumstances and emotions of two people. I hope the audience will like the future episodes also. Dhawal Thakur: Both Kuldeep and Shanvi are not perfect characters. They also make mistakes and that is what makes them real. Perhaps this is why people are able to connect themselves with these characters. Question: What will be seen in the upcoming projects? Answer/Sanchita Basu: I am working on a new Telugu film. Hopefully there will be an official announcement about it soon. Dhawal Thakur: I have an independent film coming up. Can’t share much information right now, but the audience will definitely get to see it this year. Some more projects are also in the lineup. Question: Should we expect a third season? Answer/Sanchita Basu: First watch the complete season 2. What will happen after that, only time will tell. Dhawal Thakur: Heartfelt thanks to the audience for the love they have given to both the seasons. Watch new episodes every Friday and keep your love alive.
